Save the date: Safer Internet Day 2020

The day is a great opportunity to spark a conversation about the safe and responsible use of technology, and to inspire young people to create a better internet for the future. In Wales, we will be supporting events and activities, promoting those being run by other organisations, sharing Safer Internet Day resources, and generally raising awareness of the campaign.

What is Safer Internet Day?

The aim of Safer Internet Day is to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. Co-ordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.

The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community. It calls upon young people, parents, carers, teachers, social workers, law enforcement, companies, policymakers, and wider, to join together in helping to create a better internet.

In particular we are encouraging the schools, and other organisations, that have been involved in our Digital Heroes initiative to once again show how children and young people in Wales can take ownership for creating a safer internet.

As a result of collective action in the UK, Safer Internet Day 2019 reached 46% of young people aged 8-17 and 26% of parents in the UK.
